Portfolio > Found on My Run

Found on My Run is a collection of images that were taken while out running in my neighborhood in Rialto, CA. I would frequently come across items or views that reminded me of previous work I made, or just things that made me stop and look. There was no real start to this work, or rather no real intent to begin with.

It wasn’t until my sister, whom I frequently would send images to via text saying things like, “oh hey look at this,” recommended I turn these images into a collection. She suggested that there was something more to what I was doing rather than just making images just to take a break from running. Something about how I was approaching the subjects and their commonality.

So, I continued to run, and I continued to photograph. Meanwhile finishing up one project, and unknowingly starting another. These images lay in-between, sort of a post and a prequel. There is a sense of the physical in these images from the previous project, and also the groundwork for the environmental approach I would begin to take on in the next body of work.

The main goal of these images is to press the idea to stop and look, even when out on a mission. Too often the mind stays focused on the job at hand, and it can be at the sacrifice of the world around. Photography at heart captures moments for all eternity. Even in our own neighborhoods, and streets we run daily there are still moments and objects to capture that represent the ever-changing environment that is the human condition.
