The portrait has always been something of a lie. People trying to present themselves in a way to be astute, educated or sophisticated. No one really is as they are, and therefore the portrait tells us nothing of a person’s true personality. So too is it just as easy to askew a viewer’s perception of a person when the picture is juxtaposed with wither text or another picture. The two then read off of one another and create something new. The images seen here have been taken from random places or acquired in some manner allowing me to create new identities for those depicted in these unknown photographs.
